5-Day Family Safari
Designed for families with children aged 5+. Tarangire's elephants, Serengeti's cheetah hunts, Ngorongoro's crater floor — with a guide experienced in making wildlife real for young travellers.
Trip Highlights
“Our guide spent the whole first drive explaining elephant communication to our 8-year-old. She now wants to be a wildlife biologist. Three months later she still talks about the cheetah hunt we watched from 30 metres.”
Your journey
Day by Day

Arusha to Tarangire — The Elephant Park
Children are captivated by elephants. Tarangire is where family safaris begin for a reason — within 30 minutes of entering the park, you will likely have your Land Cruiser surrounded by a herd of 50+. Your guide will explain elephant family structures, communication, and memory to the children in terms that make it stick.

Full Day Tarangire
Two game drives with a guide who is experienced with children. Your guide explains tracks, bird calls, and predator-prey dynamics in a way that is engaging rather than academic. Picnic lunch in the park. The Tarangire River at sunset is one of the finest wildlife spectacles in Tanzania — hundreds of animals at the water's edge.

Tarangire to the Serengeti
Drive west to the Serengeti. En route, stop at a Maasai community for an optional introduction to Maasai culture — children find this fascinating and the jumping ceremony is a genuine highlight. Arrive in the Serengeti mid-afternoon. First game drive on the plains.

Full Day Serengeti
The Serengeti full day. Morning game drive for the big predator sightings — cheetah hunts are especially gripping for children. Your guide will have identified a cheetah family the previous day if possible. Afternoon drive along the Seronera River for hippos, crocodiles, and the surprise of a leopard in a tree.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro and Arusha
Early morning drive then east to the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend at noon. Children often find the crater the most dramatic experience — the scale of it from the rim, then the intimacy of the wildlife on the floor. Black rhino, lions, flamingos. Drive back to Arusha after lunch.
