7-Day Great Migration Safari
Structured around the Great Wildebeest Migration — the Mara River crossings (July–October) or the Ndutu calving season (January–February). Positioned to maximise your probability of witnessing one of the world's greatest wildlife events.
Trip Highlights
“We waited three hours at the Mara. Then 15,000 wildebeest decided to cross all at once. I have never seen anything like it — and our guide had predicted exactly which bend they would use.”
Your journey
Day by Day

Arusha to the Serengeti — Western Corridor
Drive to the Serengeti. We enter via the Ndabaka Gate into the Western Corridor — the route the wildebeest use to reach the Mara River crossings. Your guide tracks movement reports every morning. First game drive en route to camp.

Western Corridor — Migration Positioning
Full day in the western Serengeti, tracking the herds. During July–October, columns of wildebeest move north through the Grumeti area. The Grumeti River crossings are smaller than the Mara but include massive Nile crocodiles that have waited all year for this moment.

Serengeti — North towards the Mara
Drive north to the Mara River area (July–October itinerary). Your guide has river crossing intelligence from scouts in the northern Serengeti. Position at the most active crossing point and wait. The wait can be minutes or hours — but when 10,000 wildebeest decide to cross, the spectacle lasts all day.

Mara River Crossings — All Day
The second day at the Mara. There is always a second crossing attempt. The mechanics of a wildebeest crossing — the hesitation, the lead animal, the panic, the crocodiles — only become fully visible on the second day when you understand the sequence. Your guide knows this river.

Serengeti Central — Predator Focus
Drive south through the central Serengeti. Even outside peak migration, the Serengeti's predator density is extraordinary. Lions in coalition hunting buffalo. Leopards in the trees above the Seronera River. Cheetahs using termite mounds as observation posts.

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim
Final Serengeti morning drive. Drive east to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Crater rim sundowners. Dinner with views.

Ngorongoro Crater and Return
Dawn descent into the crater. All Big Five — permanently resident including black rhino. After lunch, drive back to Arusha. Airport or hotel drop-off.
