Why Tanzania Welcomes Solo Women
This Is What We Have Learned Over 48 Years
Your Safety, From Start to Finish
Every solo female guest has a dedicated private guide for the entire safari. No mixing with strangers, no shared vehicles. We vet every accommodation partner personally, and our in-country team is on call 24/7 throughout your trip.
Never Alone — Unless You Want to Be
Our group departures are small (maximum 6 guests) and always mixed-gender. For solo female guests who prefer private travel, we offer single supplements at cost — not profit. You can join a group or travel completely privately. Your choice, every day.
We Have Hosted Hundreds of Solo Women
From 22-year-old backpackers to 68-year-old first-time safari-goers. Our guides have decades of experience looking after solo travellers. They understand that solo travel requires a different kind of attention — and they deliver it.
A Safari That Answers to No One But You
Wake up when you want. Stay at the leopard sighting as long as you want. Skip the place that does not appeal. A private safari for one person is not lonely — it is completely自由. You set the pace.
The Honest Truths Nobody Else Will Tell You
We have talked to hundreds of solo female travellers before and after their safaris. Here is what they wish they had known before they booked.
You Will Be Treated With Respect
Tanzanian culture is warm and hospitable. Female tourists are treated with courtesy and curiosity, not hostility. Our guides are trained specifically in appropriate conduct — and they have been with us for years, not contracted for a season.
The WhatsApp Group Is Real
Before you travel, you get a direct WhatsApp line to your guide and to our Arusha office. Not a chatbot. Not a generic support email. A real person who answers within the hour, in plain English.
You Do Not Need to Speak Swahili
Your guide speaks English. All lodge and camp staff speak enough English for everyday communication. Learning a few words of Swahili is fun but never required.
Photography Is a Solo Traveller's Best Friend
Without a travel partner to negotiate with, you have total freedom to photograph what you want, when you want. Guides who work with photographers understand the patience required — and they will wait.
Your Day on Safari
What a Solo Safari Actually Looks Like
Wake Up
Your guide meets you at your room. Fresh coffee arrives. You have 20 minutes to get ready — no coordinating with anyone else.
Morning Game Drive
Into the park in your private 4WD Land Cruiser. Your guide has already checked overnight wildlife reports from the park rangers.
Return to Lodge
Lodge for lunch and rest. Your guide will brief you on afternoon plans and answer any questions about the morning's sightings.
Afternoon Drive
Back into the park for the afternoon — often the best time for predator sightings as animals become active before dark.
Sundowners & Return
Your guide finds a scenic spot for sundowners. Back to the lodge by 7:30. Dinner is at your leisure.
Complete Flexibility
If you want to skip the morning drive and sleep in, tell your guide. If you want to stay out after dark to watch something extraordinary, your guide stays. This is private travel.
What past solo female travellers say
Women Who Came Alone — and Came Back Changed
“I had a tight budget and was worried about compromising. Safaris Tanzania delivered the full experience — private guide, private vehicle, incredible wildlife. Nothing was cut except the middleman.”
