Find the Best Safari in Tanzania

Tanzania has the best safari parks in Africa. This guide compares them — Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire — and shows you how to book the right safari without paying a broker markup.

Why Tanzania

Why Tanzania Has the Best Safaris in Africa

🦁

Serengeti

2 million wildebeest. The world's last great land animal migration. Year-round predator density that no other park matches. The Serengeti is the reason Tanzania is the best safari country on earth.

🦏

Ngorongoro Crater

The world's largest inactive volcanic caldera. 30,000 animals in a 264km² enclosed floor. Lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo — all in one morning game drive. No other place on earth compares.

🐃

Great Migration

The largest movement of land animals on Earth — 1.5 million wildebeest, 250,000 zebra, 500,000 gazelle circling the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. July-October Mara River crossings. January-February calving.

Compare this to Kenya's Maasai Mara: smaller, more crowded, same migration (different timing). Tanzania's parks are larger, less crowded, and offer more safari variety year-round.

Why direct matters

What You Get When You Book Direct

No Broker Markup

International booking platforms charge 20–40% commission on every safari. That commission comes out of your experience — smaller vehicles, older camps, fewer days on game drive. We quote direct. What you pay goes to your safari, not our marketing.

Own Vehicles, Own Guides

Every Safaris Tanzania safari uses our own fleet of Toyota Land Cruisers and our own certified guides. We know the vehicles, we trained the guides, we maintain the equipment. No third-party failures, no substitute drivers.

Arusha-Based, Tanzania-Focused

We are not a global travel agency with a Tanzania desk. We are a Tanzanian operator based in Arusha since 1978. Our office is 90 minutes from Ngorongoro. We know every road, every camp, every ranger station.

You Deal Directly with Us

Email or Find My Best Safari directly. No call centre, no booking engine, no automated responses. Your safari is planned by a person who has done it hundreds of times — and who will be there when you arrive.

Operator checklist

How to Choose a Safari Company — 6 Questions to Ask

?

Do they own their vehicles?

Operators who own their fleet maintain them properly. Vehicles that break down in the Serengeti are not just inconvenient — they are a safety issue. Ask to see photos of the actual vehicles, not stock images.

?

Are their guides employed directly?

Contracted guides may be assigned to multiple operators and have divided loyalty. Directly employed guides are invested in the operator's reputation and know the vehicles intimately.

?

Is their office in Tanzania?

An Arusha or Dar es Salaam address means the operator knows the local conditions, has real relationships with camp managers, and can respond quickly to changes on the ground.

?

Do they quote park fees separately?

Operators who bundle park fees into a single 'from $X' price are hiding the true cost. Ask for a full breakdown: safari price + park fees + tips + optional activities.

?

Can you message them directly before booking?

If you cannot reach a real person via WhatsApp or email before you book, you will not reach one when things change. Call or message — see who answers.

?

Do they offer a clear cancellation policy?

Reputable operators have written cancellation terms tied to how far out you cancel. Vague or absent policies are a warning sign.

Safaris Tanzania answers all six questions — and invites you to ask them before you book anywhere.

What Past Safari Guests Say

TripAdvisor

Kassim organised the most incredible 7-day safari for our family. The vehicles were immaculate, the guide Moses was outstanding — we saw all five Big Five in three days. Booked direct and the price was significantly less than what we were quoted through two broker platforms.

We compared five operators and three broker sites. Safaris Tanzania was not the cheapest — but they were the most transparent. Full cost breakdown before we paid a shilling. The safari itself was faultless. No hidden charges, no surprises.

We did the 10-day combination — Kilimanjaro climb then safari. Same operator for both made everything seamless. The safari after the climb was the perfect decompression. Lions in the Serengeti within an hour of entering the park.
